Star Party

Holme Moss Star Party - Good Friday - A big thank you to all our visitors

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who called up at Holme Moss on Friday night to enjoy the night sky and use some of the telescopes and other equipment we brought up to the car park to view Jupiter, Mars and the stars.
The feedback we received on the night has encouraged us to think about organising another event later in the year and possibly making a Holme Moss Star Party a regular annual event on Good Friday - weather permitting of course.
So, in the next few weeks the Astronomy Society will be looking at possible dates and if we decide to proceed then a further announcement will be made via our website.
Thank you
Astronomy Society President

Star Parties in the UK

Astronomy Society members regularly visit a number of places, in the UK, that have a lot less light pollution than Huddersfield.

In recent years we make regular pilgrimages to the following:

1) Equinox Star Party - held at a campsite near Weybourne Holt, in Norfolk.

2) Kielder Forest, Northumberland, which hosts two star parties:

Spring - run by Sunderland Astronomical Society
Autumn - run by Kielder Observatory Astronomical Society
